Summer's Best Theatre Experience!
The Frederick Camerata Summer Musical Theatre Camp provides campers with an opportunity to experience theatre from all aspects. Campers begin the week learning how to audition for parts, rehearse under the direction of highly experienced directors, sharpen their skills in acting, singing and dancing, and enjoy the fun and friendship of enthusiastic campers from around the area.
Campers participate in and learn about all facets of theatre production, including costuming, set design and construction and “behind the scenes” production skills. The week starts with an introduction to the show that the campers will present. Campers quickly begin working on their auditions under the guidance of highly experienced staff. Once the roles are assigned, campers rehearse their scripts, their music and their choreography. Campers learn the art of stagecraft from both the stage and behind the scenes, as campers design and build their stage, plan their costumes, and experience all of the aspects of theatre production. Acting, singing and dance techniques are taught and practiced in a fun-filled manner, using games and other tools.
Camp is not all hard work - Campers enjoy opportunities for many fun activities while they are in camp. They make new friends as they work together and participate in singing, dancing, acting and theatre games.
On production day, pizza is delivered to the camp. Our camp session concludes with a fully staged production, followed by a reception and awards ceremony, where each camper is recognized for their growth and accomplishments during the two week session.
Note: Camp will conclude on Saturday, after striking the set, tear down, clean up and load out, with a closing picnic. All campers are encouraged to participate in this vital portion of the theatre experience.
